All of us need some support in one way or another, either directly or indirectly to stay alive. Humans depend on many other resources to do their daily activities. And with the elderly and diseased, this is a different situation. Watching your senior loved ones age is not at all easy. They may struggle to get around, skip meals, forget names and even miss personal hygiene. What do you do? What is the finest choice for mom or dad? There are nursing homes, independent living, assisted living, long term elderly care and home health care options.
If I were a person in search of a place to have one of my parents live I would first consider what is known as Independent Living. It offers so much more in the services of life to the average person with some eye, bone or other medical problems. Life is more pleasing in fun communities.
Comparable to independent living, assisted living is a housing option for older adults who need some assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, ambulating or toileting, but who do not need 24-hour nursing care. They are still able to live independently with some assistance, but that assistance is usually necessary on a daily basis.
